Ps 96:1-2 Sing a new song to the
LORD! Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Sing to the LORD; bless his
name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. NLT
O.
Listen! The
whole earth is singing praise to its Creator! In the heavens above us the
birds sing His praises, each with its peculiar tune. The trees clap their
hands as the tips of great branches gently dance. The splashing sound of
the breakers on the shore join in and beneath the surface of the ocean both
deep and shrill voices sing His praises. God loves music. He
created it.

I was in the fourth
grade. I was walking home from school one afternoon and I took a
short-cut through a field. As I passed by a tree I heard a special
sound. I stopped and listened, then crept slowly closer to see source of
the sound. It was a beautifully decorated Oregon Meadowlark with a golden
chest and a contrasting black bib. He was sitting on a low limb in plain
view. I will never forget the stunning quality of its song. I
stared in wonder at his bright colors and listened and I knew there was a God
and that He loved music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvAUgFb1cLY
It’s interesting to me that even though the meadowlark in this recording… sings
with the same tone quality, it’s tune is quite different from the one I heard.
P.
I thank You Lord
for music. I confess that today I hear some sounds that don’t qualify as
music in my judgment. But I truly enjoy almost all kinds of melodic and
harmonic music. Most of all I delight in the sounds and lyrics that
glorify You, my Creator. You not only created music, placing it in the
birds of the air and even in the depths of the ocean, but You created me with
the possibility of enjoying and appreciating its sounds. If it’s this
good here on this earth, what will heaven be like?! Dear Lord, please put
a song in my soul again today. Yes, I know you will. Amen.

Then Sings My Soul…
O Lord my God, When I
in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
