S. Ps 113:6-8 Far below him are the heavens and the earth. He
stoops to look, and he lifts the poor from the dirt and the needy from the
garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own
people! NLT
O. The psalmist tells of a God
that is not remote and distant in spite of filling the heavens with his
presence. He still stoops down to look upon the poor and needy.
In this photo church women are soaking, treating and trimming the feet of the homeless.
A. This is the island of
Mallorca. I just happened to be here during one of these quarterly
“Make-Over Saturdays” for the Homeless that this church celebrates. About
40 of their church people converge at their campground.
Several of
the church people drive their own nice cars into the areas where people live on the streets
and fill their cars with the homeless taking them 40 minutes out of town to
their beautiful church campground. They brought 74 today men and women.
The church people sit at the tables and eat with the homeless. Later each man and woman will be able to choose new clothing, will take a shower, put on their new clothes...
... receive
haircuts, foot care and much more. They even offer to dye and style
women’s hair. It’s an all day deal including a good healthy meal and time
for table games.
But right after breakfast, this
morning, before their showers, I had the privilege of having Felipe y Perfume
entertain them and then to preach Jesus to them and pray with them. God
was there. You could feel His presence. These came forward at the
invitation. Pastor Daniel Rodriguez (light tan shirt) is in the middle of
them with his arms around them.
P. Lord, I think You are
stooping to look down today to lift the poor and needy out of the dirt and the
garbage heap. Some of these people have opened their hearts and will be
lifted up to live among these Christians...“Your princes.” Your love and
care is being demonstrated in a practical way. Thank you, Lord, for this
glorious privilege to hug their necks and know that You are giving them a new
beginning. Amen.
Ralph
