Today we
read Colossians 1 – 4
S. Col 1:15-20 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He
existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation.
Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He
made the things we can see and the things we can't see — kings, kingdoms,
rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him.
He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together. NLT
O. Just Who is this Jesus Christ
that was nailed to a cross and died… and Who conquered death to rise again on
the third day so many centuries ago? Paul’s statement in this letter to the
Colossians (above) erases all doubt. No wonder John saw all heaven bowing down
and worshipping God and the Lamb that had been slain. “And the
four living beings said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down
and worshiped God and the Lamb.” Rev 5:14 NLT
A. How can I stay in this chair while
all the inhabitants of heaven are on their faces worshipping Him?!
P. Lord Jesus: Today I fall at
Your feet along with all the multitude of amazing heavenly creatures and
worship You and Our Father God. My very life-breath is dependent upon
You. You hold me in the palm of Your hand and I am safe. If there
are other galaxies inhabited with intelligent beings… You are also their
Creator. All I know is that the inhabitants of this space ship slipped
into rebellion with their first human beings, condemning us all to
suffer the consequences. But You loved us so much (“God so loved”) that You took the dive down
to our level to take our punishment and save us for fellowship with You in Your
glorious eternity. What grace! What mercy! What love! Amen.
