Today we
read Matt 1 - 4
S. Matt 2:2-4 Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his
star as it arose, and we have come to worship him." Herod was deeply
disturbed by their question, as was all of Jerusalem. NLT
O. A newborn baby frightened a
king. He took no chances, because the prophets had called that baby boy “The
Messiah King”. So he ordered his soldiers to kill every baby boy under 2 years
old in and around Bethlehem. “Now I am safe! That tiny baby can’t ever get my
throne!” he reasoned.
A. Did Herod think that this
child would rise to power during his lifetime? If so, did he think he
could thwart God’s plan? Obviously, he was very insecure if frightened by
a tiny baby. How sad that he chose genocide just so he could “sleep in
peace”.
And now I
ask myself, how many babies have been murdered so that some guy can “sleep in
peace”. Grown men tremble when they find out that their girlfriend or secret
mistress is pregnant. And to protect himself, he becomes a “King Herod” and
orders the tiny baby… his own child… to be murdered… only so that he can “sleep
in peace”… while his girlfriend weeps, weeks, months or years over her dead
baby. “Secret genocide” has reached unheard of proportions in the USA alone.
P. Father God in heaven, can you
forgive America for mass genocide ordered by and paid for by our governing
“king”? Is there any way that these helpless babies, if spared, can have
a loving mother and father and grow to be “princes” and “princesses?”
God, I pray, please give this new government great wisdom to be able to reduce
this wicked, selfish practice… designed only to promote and propagate lusting
“free sex” without true love and commitment. Amen.
Ralph
