He held his Savior in his arms.

Saturday   1-2-16  (Nancy and Arlan’s Ranch Boring Oregon)

Scripture reading:  Genesis 3 – 5   Luke 2

S=Scripture  O=Observation  A=Application  P=Prayer  SOAP for the soul.

S.  Luke 2:29-32  Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; a light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.  KJV

“OK, God, You said it and You did it!  You can take me home now.  I have seen Your Salvation which You prepared to set before all people.  His face will shine upon the nations.  He will be the Glory of Israel.”  NUHV*

O.  Simeon had a secret. The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until his eyes had seen his Savior.  It is a gentle, tender moment when Mary lets this old man take her precious baby in his arms and hears these strange words pronounced over him.

A.  Each of our three boys was taken from the arms of their mother and placed in the arms of a servant of the Lord and words of hope and blessing were spoken over them.  Many years have passed, but those blessings still stand.  God has blessed each of them more than they can recognize.  They, like their daddy really belong to their Maker.  As I am not my own, even so, they are not their own.

P.  Father God, Your man, Simeon, had a long wait... but You did not fail him.  You honored Your promise on that blessed day.  I only ask You that I may hold them again, embraced in my arms over on the other side... saved by the same grace and mercy, Your Sacrifice that allows me free entrance into Your eternal home.  Amen.
