Come... come running!

Thursday 7-7-2016   Home in Modesto
Scripture Reading:  Hosea 10 – 12    Hebrews 4
S=Scripture  O=Observation  A=Application  P=Prayer  SOAP for the soul.

S.  Heb 4:13-16  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. NKJV

O.  We are as naked as the day we were born before God. We can hide nothing from Him. He sees everything. That would be terrifying except for one thing: Now we have a High Priest, Jesus, the Son of God, who can sympathize with our weaknesses for He walked our same pathway, yet without sin.  So let’s come running to His throne of grace and plead for mercy every time His Holy Spirit us convicts us of failure to please Him.

A.  I cannot plead innocence, because all have sinned and come short of God’s glory. (Rom 3:23) So I plead guilty, confess it all, for His eyes have already seen it. Now I praise God for His mercy and His grace expressed in the life, death and victorious resurrection of my Savior and High Priest, Jesus Christ.

P.  Lord: Where can I go to hide when I have failed You? You have already witnessed the whole thing. I might as well come clean and confess my sin. And “wonder of wonders” I do not receive harsh reproof and condemnation. But there, crumpled in a heap before Your throne, I feel the caress of Your nail-scarred hand and hear Your words, “I forgive you, my child... for I paid the penalty for that sin on Golgotha’s hill long ago.” Oh what love! What relief! Oh how Your divine love motivates me to strive to please You every day! Amen.

"The Mercy Seat"
By Don Moen

In the darkness, where ev'rything is unknown,
I faced the power of sin on my own.
I did not know of the place I could go,
Where I could find a way to heal my wounded soul.

He said that I could come into His presence without fear,
Into the holy place where His mercy hovers near.

I'm running, I'm running, I'm running to the mercy seat
Where Jesus is calling.
His grace will be my covering,
His blood will flow freely, it will provide my healing.
I'm running to the mercy seat.

Are you living where hope has not been?
Lost in the curse of a lifetime of sin?
Lovely illusions, they never come true,
But I know where there's a place of mercy for you.

He said that you could come into His presence without fear,
Into the holy place where His mercy hovers near.

Come running, come running, come running to the mercy seat
Where Jesus is calling,
His grace will be your covering.
His blood will flow freely,
It will provide your healing.
Come running to the mercy seat.

He said that I could come into His presence without fear,
Into the holy place where His mercy hovers near.

I'm running, I'm running, I'm running to the mercy seat
Where Jesus is calling,
His grace will be my covering.
His blood will flow freely,
It will provide my healing.
I'm running to the mercy seat.

I'm running to the mercy seat.
Come running to the mercy seat.
I'm running to the mercy seat.
