Shall we blame God?

Monday 6-1-15 (La Lucila, Argentina)
Scripture reading:  Prov 19-21    Rom 13

S.  Prov 19:3 People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the LORD. NLT

O.  Many, dare I say “most” of our neighbors have no use for God or the Church.  They either simply ignore His existence or they may even join those that try to prove that God does not exist.  But as soon as their foolish schemes collapse upon them… they blame God.

A.  On April 20, 1999 two high school senior students planned and carried out the massacre of 12 of their fellow students and one teacher plus injuring 21 additional people.  This horrible event and others that followed have sent shock waves throughout all the United States.

Many were saying, “Where was God when all this was happening?”  But had they forgotten that the United States courts had bent over backward to satisfy the protests of a relatively few atheists and had officially banned God and prayer from our schools?

In reading our U.S. history, I find that during our founding years and for many decades after… the Bible, God’s Word, was the leading Book to be read, quoted and memorized in our schools.  Respect for God and His Word was thoroughly taught as the basis for respect for other people and for our authorities.  Where is God now?  Our Supreme Court judges have kicked Him out of our schools and courtrooms.

P.  Father God, You are looking down at individuals and nations that have purposely tried to abolish You.  They want our young students to consider You a superstition of ignorant peoples of the past.  They teach them that well educated people now know that we created ourselves.

In the days of tragedy which are certain to come upon us, these same people will raise their fists to heaven and blame You for their misfortune.  I pray for mercy.  I pray for grace.  I dare not pray for justice for the nation of my birth and citizenship.  For You would have to annihilate us.  For as You well know, most of our elected leaders have deliberately pushed You and Your Word out of sight and hearing.

Do I dare to ask You for a revival of biblical truth?  Can I find faith in my heart to believe for a spiritual renewal in the USA?  Come, Lord Jesus!  Come and rescue us from our folly!  Amen.

Ralph
