Let’s not let them down, but bring them up.

S.  1 Kings 8:27-28 "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!”  NKJV

O.  It seems to me that David did a better job of training his son, Solomon, than he did with many of his other sons.  There was raping, killing and attempted rebellion. I believe that this, in a large part was because he had many wives and concubines and could not be a major influence in the lives of most of them.  Somehow, Solomon had a deep understanding of the Person of God.  It is a shame that he later went the way of his father, gathering many wives. And as a result his son, Rehoboam, tragically split the country in two.

A.  I am learning this lesson too late in my life.  I have no more sons or daughters to train, but I am being given the privilege to reach out and touch the sons and daughters of many others.

P.  Lord God, it is so true that the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.  You are nothing like the strange variety of many idols that men often still worship today.  Now give me wisdom to touch the little of little children and youth... and encourage their parents to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  Amen.

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. KJV
