“Oh, restore us again!”

Saturday 6-4-2016  (Martinez, Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Scripture Reading:  Prov 28 – 29   Psalm 60   Rom 16
S=Scripture  O=Observation  A=Application  P=Prayer  SOAP for the soul.

S.  Ps 60:1-3 O God, You have cast us off; You have broken us down; You have been displeased; Oh, restore us again!  You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking. You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us drink the wine of confusion.
Vs. 4 You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. NKJV

O. The psalmist describes the condition of his country.  It has been cast off and broken down by God who is displeased. It trembles and is shaking with confusion.  Yet (vs 4) somewhere a little group of faithful people lift up a banner of truth.

A.  Can there be a more accurate description of my homeland? I can remember when God was honored in each official act in our schools and among our political leaders.  Now He is mocked, except when pleading for help in disasters.  We have never before witnessed such a political shaking and confusion. Yet verse four above offers a tiny ray of hope... for a few who honor God still display the banner of truth.

P. Lord God in heaven, look down upon us once more.  I plead with the psalmist, “Oh, restore us again!” Bring us back to honor You.  May every believer in our country display the banner of truth. And Jesus, You said what no mere man could ever say, “I am the way, the truth and the life!”  Amen.
