Restore us, O God!

S.  Ps 80:1-3  Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth! Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, Stir up Your strength, And come and save us!  Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!  NKJV

O.  The psalmist sings a song to the Good Shepherd of Israel, pleading with Him to rescue his nation.  ‘Only You can restore us and save us.’

A.  Thousands of evangelical Christians in the USA are disappointed with the anti-God direction that our political leaders have taken.  They have placed judges in the supreme court who deliberately misinterpret our long-standing laws, obviously twisting them in ways totally contrary to their original intentions.  Our national standards, once firmly formed on a biblical base have officially been mocked and debunked.  What can save our nation?  Is there still hope?  My prayer is for our coming generation.  Will they never again know a free America?

P.  Today I send up a cry to heaven, “God, only You can restore and save us!  Touch Your people.  Hear our cry.  Show us clearly the way to go.  Help us to humble ourselves before You and be willing to listen to Your voice.  Cause Your face to shine upon us again, and we shall be saved!  Amen.

God Bless America, 
Land that I love. 
Stand beside her, and guide her 
Thru the night with a light from above. 
From the mountains, to the prairies, 
To the oceans, white with foam
