The invisible God made visible.

Sunday 12-25-16, Modesto, California, USA   Christmas Day 2016
Today we read 1 John 1 - 5

S.  1 John 4:9-12 God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full expression through us. NLT

O.  When shepherds stared in wonder at that little baby lying in a manger, they were witnessing how much God loved us.  He loved us enough to send His only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. Love, great enough to allow His only Son to become the sacrificial Lamb of God, and to die to “take away our sins.”  We understand that No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full expression through us.

A.  I think I am getting the picture: God sent his Son to express His great love and rescue a fallen human race.  Jesus showed us what His invisible Father was like and now He has placed this same love in us so that we may become the visible expression of the invisible God to a world of sinners that have never known what real love is.

P.  Lord Jesus: What a great blessing! You have poured out Your love upon me and now placed that same love within me. And what a great responsibility! You have left me and my fellow Christians here to show our world what our loving, invisible God is like.  Amen.

Merry Christmas! I am so glad He came!
Ralph
