We applaud when our kids get on stage.

Monday 12-26-16, Modesto, California
Today we read Psalm 117, 119:81 – 176, 2 John and 3 John
S = Scripture  O = Observation  A = Application  P = Prayer  SOAP for the soul.

S.  3 John 3-4 Some of the brothers recently returned and made me very happy by telling me about your faithfulness and that you are living in the truth. I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children live in the truth. NLT

O.  John, the fisherman, is now an elderly apostle.  Someone brought him good news about some of his spiritual children and he is delighted.

A. We, who are parents, love to see our little children and grand-children get up on stage and do their part of the Christmas story… even if they mess it up. Then as they grow to adolescence we are filled with joy when they earn good grades in school. But our greatest delight is to see them, when they are old enough to make their own decisions, choosing to follow Jesus with all their heart. The same is true of our spiritual children.

P.  I thank You God (and if Frances were here, she, too would be thanking You) for a multitude of spiritual sons and daughters that have chosen to give their lives to Your service. You are using them to bring in a great harvest of new souls. It is almost like grand-parents delighting in their grand-children and great grand-children. We watch this process with joy, for we know that the years cannot cut us off. Yes, Lord, I will soon leave the scene, but, if You choose to delay Your coming, our influence and the teaching of Your truth, Christ Jesus, lives on to touch many future generations. What joy! What delight! Amen.

Ralph
